I am an artist. Lately, my interests are that of illustration and along with the text written by my best friend, we have two children's books in the publishing process.

The first one, MY FRIEND WEARS ANTLERS, was written by Chris Witter after I relayed to her the story of my attempt to fed a rather large cow moose who was grazing in my front yard. I searched the kitchen for something to give to her and could only find a head of lettuce that was on it's last legs. I grabbed the lettuce, stepped onto the front porch and held the lettuce out to her. As she approached and with each step grew so much larger, fear overtook, and I tossed the lettuce to her and swiftly retreated into the house.

As I watched her from the kitchen window, I realized that she had finished the lettuce and was waiting patiently for me to return with more. I found a butternut squash that I tossed to her, realizing too late that I should have sliced it open for her as she was totally unfamiliar with the object and nosed it around the yard before leaving it there and turning back to the door, again patiently waiting. There was nothing left to offer her unless she would be interested in some frozen veggies. I tossed her a lump of frozen spinach and the bottom of a bag of stir-fry veggies. She ate a few and decided the pickings were skimpy here and moved on down the road.

The funniest part of this story came in the spring after the thaw when our front yard had scattered across it some very freezer burned carrots, waterchestnuts, beansprouts, green pepper and one rather large lump of spinach.

The second book, TEMPE NODOO, is about a dog that is being trained for the Iditrod and has other interests. This story was inspired from the information sent to Scotty, Chris' eldest son, age 11, to write his report for school on Alaska. He picked Alaska because his Auntie Vyki had moved there and he wanted to learn more about it. Little did he know that the stories from Alaska would motivate his mother and adopted Aunt to begin a new career writting and illustrating children's books.
